Question 1

How do I get started with a remodeling project?

Accepted Answer

Getting started is easy! Simply request a free estimate through our website or call us at (440) 224-4121. We'll schedule a consultation to discuss your vision, assess your space, and provide a detailed proposal with transparent pricing.

Question 2

What should I prepare before the initial consultation?

Accepted Answer

Before our consultation, it helps to gather inspiration photos, create a wish list of must-haves vs. nice-to-haves, establish a budget range, and identify any specific challenges or concerns about your current space. Don't worry if you're not sure, we'll guide you through the process.

Question 3

Do you offer free estimates?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We provide free, no-obligation estimates for all our services. During the estimate, we'll discuss your project goals, assess the work required, and provide transparent pricing so you can make an informed decision.

Question 4

How long does the design phase of a remodel last?

Accepted Answer

The design phase depends on project complexity, how many selections are involved, and how quickly decisions are made. We set expectations for your specific project during planning and confirm them in your proposal.

Question 5

What is transparent pricing and how is it different from line item pricing?

Accepted Answer

Transparent pricing means you can see what your proposal actually covers. Your proposal defines the scope of work, materials and selections or allowances where they apply, and the project pricing, so you can compare options and make informed decisions.

Question 6

Do you offer financing options?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We partner with Acorn Finance, which connects you with participating lenders. Checking your offers uses a soft inquiry and does not affect your credit score; a hard inquiry may occur if you proceed with an offer. Amounts, rates, terms, approval, and funding times vary by lender.

Question 7

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

Accepted payment methods and the payment schedule are stated in your contract and invoices, typically with a deposit to begin and progress payments tied to project milestones. Financing through Acorn Finance is available separately and is subject to lender approval.

Question 8

Will a remodeling project increase my home's value?

Accepted Answer

Resale impact varies by project type, materials, your local market, and buyer preferences, so we do not publish a fixed return figure. Beyond any financial return, quality remodeling improves how your home functions day to day and how much you enjoy living in it.

Question 9

Are there any hidden costs I should know about?

Accepted Answer

We pride ourselves on transparent pricing. Your detailed proposal lists materials, labor, and any permit costs that apply to your scope. If unexpected issues arise during construction (like hidden water damage), we'll discuss options and costs with you before proceeding.

Question 10

What types of remodeling projects do you handle?

Accepted Answer

We specialize in kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, and deck building. From minor updates to complete transformations, we handle projects of all sizes with the same attention to quality and detail.

Question 11

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We coordinate required permits and inspections when they apply to your project. Permit requirements and fees vary by scope and jurisdiction, and they are identified in your proposal so you are not left navigating the process alone.

Question 12

Can you work with my existing design or do I need to use yours?

Accepted Answer

We focus on construction. If you already have plans from an architect or designer, we can build from them. If you need design help, we can coordinate with or introduce you to design professionals as your project requires.

Question 13

Do you use project management software for remodeling projects?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we use industry-leading project management software (JobTread) that serves as your one-stop hub for all project essentials: photos, documents, daily logs, communication, and invoices. This keeps your project organized and ensures clear communication at every step.

Question 14

What materials and brands do you work with?

Accepted Answer

We work with a wide range of quality materials and brands to suit various budgets and styles. From premium brands to value options, we'll help you select materials that balance quality, aesthetics, and budget for your specific project.

Question 15

Do you use subcontractors?

Accepted Answer

For core work like framing, carpentry, cabinetry, and flooring, we use our in-house crew. For specialized trades such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, we coordinate licensed, insured subcontractors. You always have one point of contact: Garrett or Jamie.

Question 16

What if something unexpected is discovered during the project?

Accepted Answer

If we uncover something unexpected behind the walls or under the floor, like outdated wiring, hidden water damage, or structural issues, we document it with photos and contact you immediately. Additional work is documented and discussed with pricing before it proceeds.

Question 17

How long does a typical kitchen remodel take?

Accepted Answer

Kitchen schedules vary by scope, selections, permitting, and trade availability, so we do not quote a generic duration. Your proposal and project schedule provide the expected duration for your specific remodel.

Question 18

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

Accepted Answer

Bathroom schedules vary by scope, selections, permitting, and trade availability. We provide the expected duration in your proposal and project schedule rather than a generic range.

Question 19

What is your current lead time to start a project?

Accepted Answer

Lead time varies with current workload, project scope, permitting, selections, and trade availability. Contact us and we will share current scheduling for your project.

Question 20

Will my home be livable during the remodel?

Accepted Answer

For most projects, yes. We take steps to minimize disruption, including dust barriers, clean-up protocols, and working around your schedule. For major kitchen remodels, we can help you set up a temporary kitchen space. We'll discuss specific impacts during planning.

Question 21

What happens if the project runs behind schedule?

Accepted Answer

While we work diligently to stay on schedule, unforeseen issues can cause delays. We communicate proactively about any timeline changes and work to minimize impacts. Our project management system keeps you updated on progress and any schedule adjustments.

Question 22

Can I use my kitchen during the remodel?

Accepted Answer

For major kitchen renovations, we recommend setting up a temporary kitchen in another room with a microwave, slow cooker, and prep station. We'll talk through this during your estimate based on the specific scope and how long the kitchen will be offline.

Question 23

What's the most expensive part of a kitchen remodel?

Accepted Answer

Cabinetry is often a major cost driver on a kitchen project. Layout changes, electrical and plumbing work, countertops, appliances, flooring, and finishes all vary by project, so the breakdown is specific to your scope and selections.

Question 24

How long does a deck build take?

Accepted Answer

Deck duration is project specific and depends on design, permitting, material lead times, and weather. Your proposal and project schedule set the expected duration, and we keep you informed if conditions shift it.
